These terms are an agreement between you and Lyne Technologies (“we”, “us”), which runs MailHandover. By creating an account or using MailHandover you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data.
What MailHandover does
MailHandover connects to an email mailbox you are moving away from (your “old mailbox”), watches mail that arrives there after you connect it, and lists the people and organisations (“places”) that wrote. You can mark each place Done or Ignored. If a place you marked Done writes again, we flag it again and let you know.
MailHandover is not an email client. It does not let you read, reply to or forward mail, it does not import mail you received before connecting, and it does not change your email address with anyone. Updating your details with each bank, shop or person is up to you.
Your account
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a binding contract.
- Give us accurate details, keep your password safe and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- One person per account. Accounts are for personal use.
Connecting a mailbox
You may only connect a mailbox that you own or are authorised to access. By connecting one, you allow us to read the limited message information described in our Privacy Policy for as long as it stays connected. You can revoke that access at any time through your Google or Microsoft account, or by deleting your MailHandover account.
Your use of Gmail or Outlook remains subject to Google’s and Microsoft’s own terms. We are not responsible for their services, including outages, changes to their APIs, or them revoking our access.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- connect a mailbox belonging to someone else without their permission, or use MailHandover to monitor another person;
- break the law or anyone else’s rights while using MailHandover;
- try to access other users’ data, probe or bypass our security, or interfere with the service;
- scrape, reverse engineer, resell or build a competing product from MailHandover, except where the law allows it; or
- use automated means to create accounts or overload the service.
Fees
Some features may require a paid plan. We will show you the price and what it includes before you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel; you can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. We may change our prices, but we will tell you at least 30 days before a change affects you, and you can cancel before it does.
If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you may cancel a new paid subscription within 14 days of buying it for a refund. If you ask us to start the service during that period, we may deduct an amount for the time you have used.
Your data
Your data stays yours. You give us permission to process it only as needed to provide MailHandover to you, as set out in our Privacy Policy. When you delete your account we delete your data as that policy describes.
Availability and accuracy
We work hard to keep MailHandover running and to spot every place that writes to your old mailbox, but we cannot promise the service will be uninterrupted or complete. Mail can be missed or delayed, for example if your provider revokes access, a sync fails or a message is filtered before it reaches your inbox. MailHandover is a helpful tool, not a guarantee: do not rely on it as the only way to receive important messages, and keep your old mailbox until you are confident everyone has your new address.
We may change or improve MailHandover over time. If we remove a significant feature you pay for, we will tell you in advance.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using MailHandover and delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we must do so by law, or if we stop offering MailHandover. Except where you have broken these terms, we will give you reasonable notice and refund any unused, prepaid fees.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.
Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, for loss of business or profits, or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control, including failures of Google, Microsoft or other third-party services. Our total liability to you in connection with MailHandover is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose and £100.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If a change materially affects you, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using MailHandover after that, the new terms apply; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.
General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, although if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or EU you may also bring proceedings where you live and benefit from its mandatory consumer protections. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our consent; we may transfer ours to a business that takes over MailHandover, and we will tell you if that happens.
